VDL Stud is a recognized EU station with approval number: NL8490
Availabilty
- During the week, fresh semen can be ordered daily before 09:30 (08.30 UK time) and will be delivered the next day. For particular regions in Germany and in Belgium same day delivery and delivery in the weekend is possible. No delivery is possible on Sundays and bank holidays, however, you can always collect the semen.
- If a stallion becomes unavailable at short notice during the breeding season for any particular reason (competition, fully booked, sickness etc.), we will offer an alternative stallion of your choice. In this case, you will only be required to pay the stud fee of the last stallion used. Stud fees are non-reimbursable.
- Our breeding season ends at Aug. 15th
- In case you want to bring over your mare for breeding to VDL Stud: stabling fees at the regular stud station are € 7.50 (excl. VAT) per mare per day and € 12.50 (excl. VAT) for a mare with foal at foot. Different stabling fees apply for the Embryo Transfer Centre, see Embryo Transfer and ICSI.
- If you choose to bring your mare to the VDL Stud to be put in foal the passport should stay with the horse for our administration.
Order and payment
- Semen ordering can be done online at: http://www.vdlstud.com/en/bestellen/buitenland
or by e-mail (info@vdlstud.com), telephone (+31-582519473) or Whatsapp (send a WhatsApp to this number: +31-582519473). If you order by email, always check in the morning by phone call if we received your order.
- We need complete information of the mare owner, delivery address and the mare details before delivery of the semen.
- We only ship out semen if we have received full payment of stud fee before sending the semen.
- The stud fee does not include costs for EU Health Certificate, Transport and VAT, these costs will be invoiced to you at the end of the breeding season.
- Payment of the stud fee can be done by bank transfer or credit card.
- The transport of the semen is at the risk of the receiver.
- If the mare is not in foal before the 1st of October 2024, we need an official and signed veterinarian statement stating the mare is not in foal. With this statement, a VDL stallion of your choice can be covered in 2025 with a 50% discount of the paid stud fee in 2024.
Embryo transplantation
- In case you use the semen for embryo-flushing: stud fee is charged for every flushed out embryo.
- When semen is ordered be clear if it shall be used for embryo transplant or ICSI. If this isn’t registered with the order VDL Stud can add a fine to the semen fee.
- The owner of the mare should send us a signed letter from the vet or embryo centrw before 1st October stating how many flushes and how many successful embryos per mare. If we don’t receive this statement you can receive a fine.
- VDL Stud will charge a fine of € 15.000,- for each embryo that has not been declared, in addition to the stud fee.
ICSI
- The stud fee must be paid prior to the ICSI session, per mare and per session.
- At the end of the year, the mare owner must report the successful amount of ICSI embryos to obtain a covering certificate.
Frozen semen
- For information about which stallions are available with frozen semen you can contact VDL Stud.
- VDL Stud is not selling single straws, only pregnancies. Non-used straws must be returned to VDL stud.
- The number of straws can differ per stallion. Each dose will contain the correct amount of straws required for one insemination. The number of straws is determined at VDL Stud after each collection.
- All semen remains the property of VDL Stud. Selling of any unused semen is forbidden, the customer agrees to pay VDL Stud an additional full stud fee for every used or unused straw not returned to VDL Stud.
- Splitting, passing on and/or reselling a dose or straws is strictly prohibited.
- You can only use frozen semen on the mare who you ordered the semen for.
Liability
- VDL Stud accept no liability whatsoever for damage, sickness or injury to people, animals, transportation or otherwise.
- Mares are inseminated entirely at the cost and risk of the owner.
- The transport of the semen is at the risk of the receiver.
- By ordering and buying semen, the mare owner declares to have taken cognizance of these conditions and declares to fully agree with these services and payment conditions, as well as with the stud fees.
- When you order fresh or frozen semen from VDL Stud the general terms and conditions of the Dutch 'Bond van Hengstenhouders' in the Netherlands are applied.
