Glasgow van 't Merelsnest, Tryon 2018

Glasgow van ’t Merelsnest is an exceptional and interestingly bred stallion. Sire Nabab de Rêve and grand sire Darco have both had successful careers in Grand Prix competitions to include World Cups and World Championships.

Glasgow van ’t Merelsnest has a superlative dam line. Mother Wendelina competed herself at international Grand Prix level with Marc van Dijk, and she is the full sister of the phenomenal Sapphire who won Olympic Gold twice with the American team and many Grand Prix wins at Calgary and Wellington. Wendelina also brought two approved stallions, Edjaz and Koblenz van’t Merelsnest. Grand dam Idjaz C foaled international jumpers Lapino, Qarco van ’t Merelsnest and Vincenzo van ’t Merelsnest.

Glasgow van ’t Merelsnest is a well-developed stallion with height and length. He jumps with scope and carefulness.

This year Glasgow van ‘t Merelsnest has shown that he is one of the world’s best jumping horses. With Jur Vrieling he performed robustly winning the Grand Prix of Rome and the Helsinki World Cup. The absolute highlight was the victory with the Dutch team in the Longines Nations Cup final of Barcelona. Glasgow van ‘t Merelsnest jumped two fantastic rounds in this final. In addition Glasgow van ‘t Merelsnest won the Nations Cup in Falsterbo by jumping three clear rounds. He jumped with the Dutch team to a 2nd place in Hickstead and a 4th place in Drammen. He won a 1.50m at Jumping Amsterdam and a 1.45m at Drachten. He was 2nd in a 1.55m at Rotterdam and 10th in the Grand Prix Rotterdam. In 2016 he won the Grand Prix of Arezzo and became 2nd in the Grand Prix of Odense. As a member of the Dutch team they won the Nations Cup of La Baule, placed 2nd in Odense and 3rd in Falsterbo. In 2015 there were victories in the Six Bars of Mechelen, Melsomvik and Zuidbroek.

Glasgow’s oldest offspring are very well developed and appear to be outstanding jumpers. They have a great canter and show all the needed scope.

The first offspring compete already at international level. Gigolo Z and Bitcoin jumped their first 1.40m/1.45m classes and several offspring are placed at international 1.35m level. Gambler Z won a class for 6-year olds at the Z-festival at Zangersheide. Gweedore vd Groote Kamps Z won the GMB class in Laag Soeren. His son Jewel Fortuna was approved for Mecklenburg. Sensation TOK was the Brazilian Champion of Colts 12 to 18 months of age. Hiralinde DN was designated Champion of the Open Foal Show of De Westhoek. Several foals and embryos of Glasgow van ‘t Merelsnest were sold for excellent prices at foal auctions.

Glasgow van ’t Merelsnest meets the PROK and Roaring criteria of the KWPN. KWPN will register his foals in their foalbook.
