ROME - There were great successes last weekend for two Cardento descendants: C four 2 (Cardento x Concorde) won the CSIO5* 1.60m Grand Prix of Rome (IT) under David Will (GER), Catch me Not S (Cardento x Ramiro's son) and Peter Fredericson (SWE) won the CSI5* 1.60m Grand Prix of St. Tropez (FR).
Catch me Not S and Fredericson were also unbeatable in the 1.50m.
Earlier this month, Catch me Not S and Fredericson, who have been very successful for several years now, also won the CSI4* 1.55m Maimarkt Championship of Mannheim (GER). Catch me Not S was bred by Krister Svedberg (SWE). Breeder of C four 2 is W. Wolters, Groningen (NED).
In St Stropez there was also a nice place for Katanga van het Dingeshof (Cardento x Tornado) and the Belgian rider Nicola Philippaerts; this combination was second in the CSI5* over 1.60. Earlier this year they claimed third place in the CSI3* NetJets Grand Prix in Wellington, USA. Katanga van het Dingeshof was bred by Liliane Vermeulen.
In the 1.40m class, second place was for Galaxy (Arezzo x Corland), ridden by Inigo Lopez de la Osa Franco (MON). Sultan de Beaufour (Cardento x For Pleasure), also ridden by Inigo Lopez de la Osa Franco (MON), was eighth in this class. In another 1.40m class, these horses finished fourth resp. tenth. Sultan de Beaufour, who also finished fifth in the 1.40m class, was bred by MME Carole Mille, Cambremer (FRA).
Cassia Pleasure V (Cardento x For Pleasure) finished eighth, but in the 1.50m class, with Michael Cristofoletti (ITA) in the saddle. Cassia Pleasure V was bred by Ehlber, Friedhelm & Narten, Beate.
Kardenta (Cardento x Concorde), bred by Peter Verhelst and ridden by Sergio Alvarez Moya (ESP), jumped to a great second place in the 1.45m. In the 1.55m class, Suma's Zorro (Douglas x Horos xx) and Sameh el Dahan (EGY) were fifth. Suma’s Zorro, also highly successful for several years, was bred by Suma Stud, County Kilkenny (IR).
