During the international CSI4* competition in Vejer de la Frontera, VDL offspring once again made a strong impression with several victories and top placings in various classes.
In the concluding Grand Prix (1.55m)*, Oscar-A, a son of Harley, rode to an impressive fourth place with Sameh El Dahan (GBR). After a clear first round, the pair qualified for the jump-off. The BWP horse was bred by Luc Aerts from Hoogstraten (BEL).
VDL also featured on the podium in the Big Tour (1.45m). Commander Lux, a son of Corporal, jumped to victory under Rogier Linssen (NED) with a clear round in 58.56 seconds. The Corporal son was bred by S. & M. Olsson. In addition, Nearco Merelsnest VDL (by Diamant de Semilly) finished in a creditable third place with Laura Klaphake (GER). Nearco Merelsnest was bred by Stoeterij van ’t Merelsnest and had previously also finished in 5th place.
The successes continued to pile up in the Small and Medium Tours. Kordon VDL (by Glenfiddich) won the 1.40m class with Conor Drain (IRL), whilst La Vie Est d'Or (by Dakar) claimed the 1.45m Small Tour with Glain Watkin Jones (GBR). The Glenfiddich son was bred by P. Rinkes & A.M. Rinkes-Tjeenk Willink and the Dakar daughter was bred by H.V. Boertjes.
Janeiro (by Arezzo) was also in excellent form with Ronnie Jones (GBR). The pair won both the Medium Tour (1.35m) and an earlier 1.40m class. This KWPN horse was bred by Frans van Boxtel from Volkel (NED).
In the young horse class, a Cardento offspring also impressed. MHS Cardenta jumped to victory with Mia Albelo (USA) in the 1.35m class for young horses. Tom & Sinead Brennan are the breeders of MHS Cardenta and later also managed to finish in 8th place.
With this impressive run of results, VDL Breeding once again underlines its leading role at international level. Both across the board and at the very top, the VDL stallions and their offspring are making their mark in Vejer de la Frontera.
