ASCONA – A successful international show in Ascona, Switzerland, for VDL horses and the offspring of VDL stallions. Stargos (by Stakkato Gold) jumped to fifth place in the 1.45m class under Hessel Hoekstra. In addition, Hoekstra won a 1.40m class with VDL Novacific Eickenrode (by Baltic), and there was a victory for Carrera’s daughter Cayenne Fleur SW Z.
Stargos fifth in the 1.45m
The nine-year-old stallion Stargos (by Stakkato Gold) once again demonstrated his qualities under Hessel Hoekstra. In the 4* 1.45m class, the Premio Banca Axion Swiss Bank, the pair rode clear. With a time of 59.39 seconds, Stargos and Hoekstra finished in a creditable fifth place. Stargos was bred by W. Winkeler.
Victory for VDL Novacific Eickenrode (by Baltic)
VDL Novacific Eickenrode (by Baltic) also enjoyed an excellent competition with Hessel Hoekstra. The eight-year-old mare won an international 1.35/1.40m class. In the second phase, the pair remained clear and clocked the winning time of 30.40 seconds. In another 1.35/1.40m class, Hoekstra and the Baltic daughter also achieved a fine placing. With a clear round, they finished third. VDL Novacific Eickenrode was bred by Van der Waaij.
Carrera VDL daughter Cayenne Fleur SW Z wins
Another of Carrera’s offspring secured a victory in Ascona. Cayenne Fleur SW Z (by Carrera) won the 2* 1.35m Premio BVHouse class under Swiss rider Philippa Bisang. The nine-year-old mare rode clear and clocked the fastest time of 58.93 seconds. Cayenne Fleur SW Z was bred by H.A. van der Weide.
