During the prestigious CSI5* show in Aachen, several horses from the VDL stud and sired by VDL stallions achieved outstanding results at the very highest level. In the iconic Soers Arena, a number of pairs made their mark amongst the world’s elite.
On Thursday, the competition got off to a strong start with a second place for Gisborne VDL in the Prize of Soers over 1.45m. The VDL Stud-bred son of Zirocco Blue was ridden clear by top Irish rider Daniel Coyle to a fast jump-off time of 31.43 seconds.
Later that day, Farrel VDL took centre stage. In the first qualifier for the Rolex Grand Prix over 1.55m, he jumped convincingly to victory under Daniel Coyle. With a clear round in 70.99 seconds, the pair stayed ahead of the entire world elite. The VDL Stud-bred son of Cardento thus once again confirmed his exceptional form at the highest level.
The success continued in Aachen on Sunday as well. In the Prize of Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. over 1.50m, Glamour Girl claimed victory. Ridden by reigning world champion Henrik von Eckermann, the mare jumped convincingly to victory in 67.30 seconds. Glamour Girl, bred by Stoeterij Gaesbeek in Ruinen, is yet another strong showcase for the progeny of Zirocco Blue.
In addition, Farrel VDL managed to secure another placing in the same class, finishing eleventh.
With these results, VDL horses and the offspring of VDL stallions have once again confirmed their firm place at the top of international show jumping.
