Over the past week, several VDL offspring have demonstrated that they belong among the world's elite.
Kronenberg (NED)
At the CSI1* Youngster Tour in Kronenberg, CC Gentle (by Glasgow vh Merelsnest) under the saddle of Mike van Olst (BEL) won the class for 7-year-olds (1.35m). The gelding, bred by Carsten Carstensen (DEN), remained clear and finished in 61.72 seconds.
Ising am Chiemsee (GER)
Mexican rider Ariana Falck triumphed with Haya (by Glasgow vh Merelsnest) in the 1.40m class. The Glasgow vh Merelsnest daughter, bred by Stal Rombouts, left all her competitors behind with a clear round in 65.15 seconds.
Saugerties, New York (USA) – CSI3*
International show jumper Nayel Nassar (EGY) took the victory in the 1.45m Two Phases Special with Ivory TCS (by Falaise de Muze). With 0/35.50, this earned the combination over 10,000 USD in prize money. T. & L. Collins are the breeders of the Falaise de Muze daughter.
Lier (BEL)
The names of VDL stallions also rang out over the loudspeakers in Lier:
- Ronnie Flex Castanoo (by Arezzo) won the 1.40m class for 8-year-olds with Jules van Hoydonck (BEL), bred by Gerd Wauters.
- Johnnie Walker VDL (by Zapatero) was the fastest in the 1.40m class on Friday with Alexander McLean (GBR), bred by: H.G.J. Kroeze
- Johnnie Walker VDL (by Zapatero) came second with Alexander McLean (GBR) in the 1.40m class on Sunday, bred by: H.G.J. Kroeze
- Marmara des Dames (by Harley) delivered a winning ride under Isabell Bengtsson (SWE) in the 1.35m class for 7-year-olds, bred by Haras des Dames- Demesmaeker
Esposende (POR) – CSI2*
In Portugal, victory in the 1.30m class went to Larezzo Parisol (by Arezzo) with Ricardo Gil Santos (POR), who rode a convincing clear round in 57.95 seconds. In the 1.35m class, the Arezzo son bred by Antionio Manuel Claro also showed that he was in good form, finishing in 5th place.
Belgrade (SRB) – CH-Balkan Juniors
In the Junior Final of the Balkan Championships, Diana vd Tojopehoeve Z (by Dakar) was successful. Greek rider Stefania Bessiou remained double clear and took the title. The Dakar daughter is bred by the Tojopehoeve.
