VDL Stud, in cooperation with Equilife Equine Doctors, also offers a wide range of treatments by embryo transfer at our specialised reproduction centre. It is also possible to rent a surrogate mare.

Embryo transfer and ICSI:

• When placing the first order, please indicate whether the semen ordered will be used for embryo transfer or ICSI. If no indication is made, VDL Stud may charge a fine in addition to the stud fee. 
• If there are no embryo(s), sperm can be ordered again for this mare. 
• With embryo transplantation, stud fees will be charged per successful embryo, this also applies to frozen embryos and if several embryos are flushed from one insemination. 
• The mare owner has to provide VDL Stud before 1 October 2025 with a signed declaration, drawn up by the veterinarian or the ET centre, of the number of flushes and the number of successful embryos per mare. In case of no declaration, VDL Stud may charge a fine in addition to the stud fee. 
• If the transplantation of the embryo/ICSI was not successful, this overview will count as a not in foal declaration (if mentioned). 
• For ICSI, stud fees will be paid per ICSI session per mare regardless of the amount of embryos. 
• VDL Stud will charge a fine of € 15,000 for each undeclared embryo in addition to the stud fee.

Conditions for embryo transplantation: Stud fees are charged per successful embryo, this also applies to frozen embryos and if several embryos are flushed from one insemination. The mare owner must provide VDL Stud before October 1st 2025 with an overview prepared and signed by the veterinarian or the ET center of the number of washes and the number of successful embryos per mare. If the transplantation of the embryo has not been successful, this overview serves as a gust statement (if stated). With this statement you can continue breeding for 50% of the studfee of the following year.
