AREZZO - Outstanding results were achieved by VDL stud-bred Harwich VDL (Arezzo x Darco) and Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (BRA) in Arezzo, Italy. In the CSI3* Grand Prix over 1.50m, the combination took third prize.
Just last Saturday, Marlon Zanotelli gave an appearance with Grand Slam VDL and Comthago VDL at the fantastic VDL Stud stallion show, attended by thousands of people from just about every continent.
A day later, the top rider competed again for the best result with Harwich VDL, at the Grand Prix in Arezzo.
But from Arezzo came more excellent results. No fewer than six VDL offspring claimed victory at this three-star tournament.
Never Alone van 't Heike (Indoctro x Grandeur) and Alberto Zorzi (ITA) won the 1.35m class. Karen Boonen (NED) bred this 10-year-old Indoctro son, who was licensed with the BWP.
The also 10-year-old Demeter Des Carmilles (Cardento 'Elite' x For Pleasure), bred by Carole Mille (FRA) and ridden by Inigo Lopez de la Osa Franco (ESP), won another 1.35m class.
Inpulss (Dallas VDL x Indorado), under the saddle of Jessica Burke (IRL), won the 1.45m class. This fast and careful mare was born ten years ago in the stables of A.W. Stapel (NED).
Twelve-year-old Gerardo-E (Baltic VDL x Andiamo), ridden by Guido Grimaldi (ITA), won the 1.30m. W.J.M. Erven (NED) bred Gerardo-E.
Ilonblue F (Zirocco Blue x Canturano I), ridden by Guido Grimaldi (ITA), won the 1.35m. H. Fabrie (NED) bred the 10-year-old Ilonblue F.
But the top-three of this competition was not complete without two other VDL offspring:
Dodarde E Z (Dallas VDL x Zeus), ridden by Rys Williams (IRE), came second. Mts. van Esch (NED) bred the eight-year-old Dodarde E Z.
Third was Pretty Sarah (Harley VDL x Indorado), ridden by Gabriele Bresciani (ITA). Tharros S.R.L.(ITA) bred this eight-year-old chestnut mare.
