LISBON - The 2019 New Horse Championships for the 4-year-olds in Portugal have been won by Kilate N (by Etoulon VDL) and Hugo Carvalho Ferreira. Kilate N was bred by the Portuguese breeder Luís Novais out of the Contendro-mare Giovanna-E.
Parallel to the national show jumping championships, the Portuguese Equestrian Association is organizing the New Horse Criteria, which showcases the best breeding products of the future generation of horse athletes.
Eighteen four-year-olds appeared in the first qualification and 15 in the final on Sunday. The gold medal was for Kilate N (Etoulon VDL x Contendro I) ridden by Hugo Carvalho Ferreira, who scored zero penalty points in the three qualifications and rode a clear and extremely fast jump-off.
