LA BAULE - Leone Jei (Baltic VDL x Corland) and Martin Fuchs (SUI) have finished in third place in the Grand Prix of La Baule (FRA).
The Nations Cup over 1.60m resulted in a victory for Dsarie (Veron x Ahorn), ridden by Beat Mändli (SUI). Dsarie was bred by M. Smit from Dedemsvaart (NED).
Kilkenny (Cardento x Guidam), an extremely successful breeding product of SInead Brennan (IRL), with Cian O'Connor (IRL) in the saddle, finished fifth, but had to share this ranking with Cartello VDL (Cartani x Lord), and Daragh Kenny (IR). Like Cardento 'Elite', Cartello VDL was bred out of the mare B-Estelle. Breeder is Witt Pferdezucht Gbr, Wellinghusen (GER). The horse was sold by the VDL Stud a few years ago and has since shown a lot of quality. Earlier this year, Cartello was very successful in the 5* Grand Prix of Wellington by Lorcan Gallagher (USA). Cartello VDL was also recently 2nd in the 1.50m American Gold Cup Qualifier of Traverse City, Michigan and third in the Grand Prix of Tryon. In addition, Cartello VDL recently won the 1.45m in Valkenswaard (NED).
Dolinn (Cardento x Lux), bred by J.A.J. Hoppenbrouwers, Wintelre (NED) and under the saddle of Harrie Smolders (NED) finished seventh in this Nations Cup competition in La Baule.
In the 1.45m class, Chief Tibri Z (Corland x Berlin), bred by Pieters Aster, was sixth under Pedro Junqueira Muylaert (BRA). This combination also finished second in the 1.40m. The eleven-year-old mare Illiade KDW (Indoctro x Brahmann St Simeon) and Kevin Staut (FRA) finished in sixth place in this class.
