During the CSI2* competition in Ocala (WEC), Florida, Cardento was very much in the spotlight thanks to an impressive run of results from his offspring. On 22 March, Cardentos, ridden by German rider Richard Vogel, raced to victory in the 1.45m Grand Prix. The pair remained double clear and clocked a winning time of 35.46 seconds, earning €16,525 in prize money. A day earlier, the Stal Witt-bred Cardento son had already confirmed his top form with a third place in a 1.45m class, whilst on 19 March he also finished in the money with a fourth place. These consistent performances once again underline the exceptional qualities that Cardento passes on to his offspring: power, attitude and competitiveness at the highest level.
In the Grand Prix, James Bond HX, a son of Douglas, also delivered an outstanding performance under American rider Samantha Schaefer. The pair remained clear in both the basic course and the jump-off, finishing in 36.96 seconds, good for an impressive second place and $13,000 in prize money. He was bred by Stal Hendrix from Kessel and once again confirms the quality of Douglas’s offspring at the highest level.
Earlier in the weekend, VDL Kelton, a son of Bubalou, also put in a strong performance in the demanding CSIO5* 1.50m Winning Round. Ridden by Belgian rider Annelies Vorsselmans, he jumped to a clear-round fourth place in 39.71 seconds, earning $12,000 in prize money. VDL Kelton was bred by VDL Stud and Y. Walda (Bears) and continues to make his mark consistently on the international circuit. In addition, this pair also secured third place in a 1.40m class, further underlining their consistent form and competitiveness.
With these results, the VDL stallions once again demonstrate their influence in international show jumping, with offspring excelling in ability, attitude and drive to perform.
