Olsen W VDL is the first KWPN approved son of the highly successful VDL Glasgow van 't Merelsnest. In addition to a successful sports career with Jur Vrieling, Glasgow also built a successful breeding career over the years. Several offspring are now breaking through at the highest level, including the highly successful showjumper High Five ridden by Mexico’s Fernando Martinez Sommer. Olsen W VDL combines the unlimited scope of Glasgow van 't Merelsnest with the excellent sire Carrera VDL. His offspring are now jumping at top level and stand out for their outstanding reflexes and excellent technique. Great-grandsire Kannan also contributes to the strong foundation of Olsen W VDL.
The promising Olsen W VDL is bred out of the mare Cuba Libre W Z, who also produced the KWPN approved stallion Nouri W VDL - a top talent sired by Cohinoor VDL. Cuba Libre W Z herself scored excellent points in the KWPN IBOP test. She passed the exam with 84 points, including 8.5's for canter, reflexes, technique, scope, attitude and talent as a showjumper. This famous Hilly line has produced many international showjumpers in the past; Olsen W VDL is closely related to Grand Prix jumpers such as Carpaccio (Manuel Horn), For Killy (Amanda Landeblad), Caspar (Bart Clarys), Turbo R (Jos Lansink) and Zargo Z (Emile Hendrix).
Palmares
At the KWPN Stallion Show, Olsen W VDL already stood out for his beautiful way of jumping with great ease and scope; he also lives up to these expectations under saddle. Olsen W VDL passed the KWPN Performance Test convincingly, scoring 8's and 8.5's in all jumping sections with a total score of 82. His technique, scope and talent as a showjumper were rewarded with an 8.5. All this combined with his excellent pedigree makes Olsen W VDL a complete and valuable young stallion for breeding.
