Sire Zirocco Blue VDL is among the best breeding stallions of his generation and his offspring continue to convince at the highest level. With well over 100 offspring at 1.50m level or higher, including top horses such as Glamour Girl, Elysium, Hallilea, Zuccero, Zilton SL Z and Eddie Blue, Zirocco Blue VDL ranks among world's most successful showjumping sires. Pure Blue VDL's grandsire Luidam also performed at top level himself and in recent years has increasingly delivered as sire or grandsire of international showjumping talents.

Pure Blue VDL's dam Blue Angel herself performed at international top level for many years with USA top rider Kent Farrington, they strung together one victory after another. Blue Angel scored dozens of international victories in her career, including multiple times the Grand Prix of Wellington and 1.60m classes in Calgary, Geneva, Washington and Dublin.
