During the international CSI4 classes in Vejer de la Frontera*, horses with VDL bloodlines once again made their presence felt. With multiple victories and podium places in various tours, it was a particularly successful weekend on the Spanish Sunshine Tour.
The victory in the CSI4 Big Tour 1.40m* on Sunday went to Metropolitan (by Glenfiddich) under the saddle of Belgian rider Laurens Houben. The combination remained clear and set a fast time of 32.63 seconds in the jump-off, good for the win. The Glenfiddich son, bred by Stal Thijssen, also finished in a respectable 4th and 7th place.
Robert Vos also added a class to his name. With Eternity DV Z (by Etoulon), bred by De Dalie, he won the CSI4 Small Tour 1.35m* after a clear round in 67.25 seconds.
Swedish rider Lina Renström had a particularly strong competition with Joberlina-W (by Zirocco Blue), bred by W.Ph. Wagelaar. The combination won twice: first in the CSI4 Small Tour 1.40m* on Thursday and later in the CSI4 Small Tour 1.45m*, where they were the fastest in the jump-off with 31.43 seconds.
Second place went to Kordon VDL (by Glenfiddich) with Irish rider Conor Drain in the CSI4 Medium Tour 1.40m*. The Glenfiddich son, bred by P. & A.M. Rinkes-Tjeenk Willink, remained faultless and finished in 69.58 seconds.
Earlier in the week, there were also victories for VDL offspring. Mosandro van Perbeemd (by Arezzo), bred by D. Vermeiren, won the CSI4 Big Tour 1.40m* with British rider Jessica Hewlett with a clear round in 60.32 seconds.
In addition, Fiona des Ibis (by Zirocco Blue), bred by Marie-Christine Djindjian, won the CSI4 Medium Tour 1.40m* with French rider Julien Anquetin after a fast clear round in 55.94 seconds.
With an impressive series of victories and top placings, VDL offspring once again confirmed their great value at the highest international level during the Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera.
