Gangster WW (by Grand Slam) finishes 5th in the 5* 1.60m Grand Prix at Dinard

The VDL offspring once again showed their best form last weekend at the prestigious CSI5* in Dinard, France. With a victory and several top placings at the highest level, their offspring once again confirmed their international calibre.

In the prestigious CSI5* Grand Prix, a VDL-bred horse made a strong impression. Gangster WW (by Grand Slam), ridden by New Zealander Luke Dee, finished in an impressive fifth place. After a clear first round, the pair incurred just one time penalty in the second round, securing an excellent placing and prize money of €40,000. The Grand Slam son was bred by Wilhelm Winkeler from Germany.

Thursday’s victory in the 1.45m class went to Glamour Girl (by Zirocco Blue), who, under the Swedish world- class rider Henrik von Eckermann, convincingly won the class. The KWPN mare, bred by Stoeterij Gaesbeek VOF in Ruinen remained clear and raced to victory in the jump-off in a time of 32.63 seconds. Later in the week, she also managed to finish 3rd and 7th in the 1.45m and 1.50m classes.

In addition, there was another victory for a VDL offspring in the 7- year-old horses’ class. Jalisgo JPC (by Glasgow van ’t Merelsnest), ridden by the Frenchman Alexis Deroubaix, remained clear and claimed the class. Jean-Paul Coche is the breeder of this son of Glasgow van ’t Merelsnest.

In the 1.55m class on Friday, VDL Kelton (by Bubalu), ridden by Annelies Vorsselmans, secured a fine 6th place. The Bubablu son, bred by Y. Walda & VDL Stud, managed to ride clear twice.
