Glasgow van ’t Merelsnest is an exceptional and interestingly bred stallion. Sire Nabab de Rêve and grand sire Darco have both had successful careers in Grand Prix competitions to include World Cups and World Championships.
Glasgow van ’t Merelsnest has a superlative dam line. Mother Wendelina competed herself at international Grand Prix level with Marc van Dijk, and she is the full sister of the phenomenal Sapphire who won Olympic Gold twice with the American team and many Grand Prix wins at Calgary and Wellington. Wendelina also brought two approved stallions, Edjaz and Koblenz van’t Merelsnest. Grand dam Idjaz C foaled international jumpers Lapino, Qarco van ’t Merelsnest and Vincenzo van ’t Merelsnest.
Ridden by Jur Vrieling, Glasgow van’t Merelsnest is among the top show jumpers in the Netherlands. Winning at Grand Prix and World Cup level, he has also competed for the Dutch Team at the European Championship in Gothenburg, the World Equestrian Games in Tryon and winning the Nation’s Cup Final in Barcelona. Besides that he won the prestigious Grand Prix of Rome and he won several Nations Cups.

ERMELO - At the finals of the KNHS indoor championships in Ermelo, Heureuse (Dakar VDL), ridden by Mandy Deurloo, captured the championship title in the 1.30m. Indy (Glasgow-w v/h Merelsnest) came third under Sylvia Holterman.
GORLA MINORE - G-Vingino-Blue (Zirocco Blue x Orame) and Skye Morssinkhof (NED) won the CSI1* 1.40m-competition in Gorla Minore (ITA).
STAPHORST - Out of 100 participants, Yvonne Vaartjes' Nillandra (Glasgow v/h Merelsnest) was declared the most talented horse of the Morrenhof Jansen Young Horse Training. Nillandra was presented by Maxim Peeters.
BALKBRUG - Icarinda (Etoulon x Ukato) and Wesley de Boer (NED) won the 1.45m Grand Prix in Balkbrug. Icarina also stayed clear in the jump-off and set the fastest time.

OCALA - Harold (Dallas VDL x Karandasj) and his Dutch rider Jelmer Hoekstra won the 1.40m WEC Futures Prix in Ocala, USA.
VECHTA - Premium stallion cat.no 21 (Glasgow van 't Merelsnest x Castino) fetched €140,000 at the Oldenburg International Elite Auction. This made the stallion the second most expensive jumper sold in the auction.
OCALA - Karlotta CL (Baltic VDL) and Manuel Torres (CAN) won the 1.30m in Ocala, Florida (USA). Harold (Dallas VDL) and Jelmer Hoekstra (NED) also managed to win a 1.30m class.
WELLINGTON - VDL Stella (Cardento x Baloubet du Rouet), ridden by Hannah Hink (USA), finished seventh in the 1.45m High Amateur Jumper Classic competition in Wellington (USA) and second in the 1.40m High Amateur Jumper competition.

TOLBERT - A magnificent day at Jumping Tolbert for Neymar VDL and Chopano VA: Neymar VDL won in the four-year-old class, while Chopano VA was unbeatable in the five-year-old class. Both young stallions are ridden by Suzanne Tepper.
COMPIÈGNE - Lipton (Glasgow van 't Merelsnest x Arezzo VDL), ridden by Jules Orsolini (FRA), has won the young horse class for 5- and 6-year-olds over 1.30 in Compiègne, France. In the 1.25 class, the combination finished second.
CANNES - Faltic HB (Baltic VDL x Concorde) and Ben Maher (GBR) came third in the CSI5* €300,000 1.60m Grand Prix in Cannes (FRA). High Five (Glasgow van 't Merelsnest x Corland) and Fernando Martinez Sommer (MEX) were fifth.
SAMORIN - Maerle (Glasgow v/h Merelsnest x Veron) has won the CSIYH1* Young Horse Class over 1.20m in Samorin (SVK) under the saddle of Norbert Schuman (ROU).

VEJER DE LA FRONTERA - VDL Stella (Cardento x Baloubet du Rouet), ridden by Carly Anthony (USA), won the CSIO3* over 1.45m in Vejer de la Frontera (ESP). VDL Stella was sold during the WEF Sport Horse Auction in 2020.
Kiss-Unlimited (Glasgow v/h Merelsnest x Corland), who competes at 1.35m level, changed hands during the first Aloga Auction in Ireland for € 235,000. This made the mare the most expensive horse sold.
ERMELO - There were fantastic results for many VDL offspring during the Dutch Championships, also known as the Hippiade, organized by the KNHS. The ZZ was won by Juventus (Glasgow v/h Merelsnest) and Bert Jan Zuidema.
A top result in Ermelo with 4 own foals in the top 10 of the National Foal Championship. The highest placed was the Zirocco Blue-daughter Rubycara van Seldsum VDL, we co-owned this beautiful foal with breeders E.T. Hovenga and R. de Melker.
NISSE - The highest score at the Studbook Inspection and Central Inspection Zeeland was for the Etoulon VDL daughter New Girl. The mare received 75 points for conformation and 80 for jumping. New Girl was promoted to provisional keur.
ENTER - The first mare inspection of the season yielded 85 points for jumping for Niarma (Dakar VDL), bred by Freek Marsman from Ambt Delden. Nikabertha (Glasgow van 't Merelsnest), bred by A.W.J. Jansen from Enter, received 80 points.
DE PEELBERGEN - Faltic HB (Baltic VDL x Concorde) and Eoin Gallagher (IRL) achieved a wonderful third place in the CSIO3 * Grand Prix in De Peelbergen. In addition, Faltic HB was unbeatable in the Nations Cup over 1.50m.
SAUGERTIES - A fine result for VDL in Saugerties (USA): no less than three classes in one day were won by three different horses: Glen (Zirocco Blue VDL), Gideon (Arezzo VDL) and Gillette B (Glasgow van 't Merelsnest).

POZNAN - Once again the show in Poznan was the stage for successes for a large group of offspring of the VDL stallions. Leading roles included King Lepantino (v. Arezzo) and Daisy (v. Glasgow v.'t Merelsnest).

Our approved stallion Dallas VDL jumped a nice round in the 1.45m class at CSI5* Geesteren and finished in 5th place. VDL Glasgow vt Merelsnest jumped with the Dutch Showjumping Team to a 2nd place in the Nations Cup.
A fantastic performance for Jur Vrieling and VDL Glasgow vt Merelsnest in the Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Shanghai. In a jump-off with 9 competitors Glasgow and Jur finished in 3rd place by jumping a clear and fast round.

There was a competition for 4- and 5-year old showjumpers in Beilen, called Oostermoerkei. This was a competition for only young showjumpers and in both competition there were great results for VDL offspring.
There were several placings for young offspring of VDL Stallions in competitions for young showjumpers, during CSIYH1* Lier.
The GMB competition is organized for young showjumpers in the age of 4, 5 and 6 years old. This means horses needs to be born in 2012/2013/2014. After the selection rounds, the best horses will compete in the finals.
Comfortuna VDL (Berlin x Nimmerdor) and James Billington placed 7th in a 1.50m class at the jumping of Lastrup, Germany. With Fancy Roos VDL (Baltic x Goodtimes), James placed 6th in a 1.35m class.
