Karonia L (v. Harley) wins the Grand Prix of Arezzo

During the international show jumping competitions in Arezzo, offspring of VDL stallions once again performed exceptionally well. With multiple victories and podium finishes, they have underlined their quality and consistency on the international stage.

The highlight of the weekend was the victory of Karonia L, a daughter of Harley VDL, who, under the saddle of Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida, won the Grand Prix (1.55m). The pair remained clear-round twice and recorded a fast jump-off in 35.79 seconds, securing first prize of €26,500. Karonia L was bred by Th. Lemmers from Baexem.

There was also success in the Silver Tour Final (1.45m) thanks to I Will Be Famous, a descendant of Bubalu VDL. Ridden by the Austrian rider Bianca Babanitz, the pair jumped convincingly to victory with a clear-round jump-off in 39.46 seconds. The Bubalu son was bred by De Radstake.

Strong results were also achieved on Friday. In the Silver Tour (1.40m), Katja, a daughter of Etoulon VDL, won with Denis Lynch in the saddle. She was bred by G.M. Hebbink. In the same class, Manchester (by Harley VDL) finished in a fine second place with Josipa Koletic. The Harley son was bred by H. Steinmeyer & M.S. Assen.

There was also victory in the Gold Tour (1.40m) for Kolman VDP, another son of Harley VDL. Ridden by British rider Alexander McLean, the pair remained double clear and fast in the jump-off. Hindrik van der Ploeg is the breeder of the Harley son.

There were also strong performances in the other classes. In the Silver Tour (1.35m), Optimus Prime, a son of VDL Glasgow van ’t Merelsnest, finished second with the Slovakian rider Kirsten Katarina Packova. Nad Wigrami is the sire of the chestnut gelding. Victory went to Qachica (by Quasimodo van de Molendreef) and Angelos Touloupis. The pair managed to stay clear with the fastest time; he was bred by Betram R. Firestone.

With these results, the VDL stallions once again confirm their significant influence in international show jumping, and their offspring are proving themselves competitive at the highest level.
